LAKE FOREST, Ill. – It’s only fitting that this PGA Tour season is coming to a soggy conclusion.
From wind to fog to snow to derechos to the plain ol’ wet stuff, it’s clear that Mother Nature is No. 1 in the latest FedEx Cup standings. No math necessary.
The latest weather-related issue to plague the Tour will push the BMW Championship to a fifth day. The BMW is the third non-scheduled Monday finish on Tour this season, following the Farmers Insurance Open (fog) and Arnold Palmer Invitational (rain). Interestingly, Tiger Woods won both of those events. Here, he is four shots behind with 18 holes to play.

The BMW is the 22nd event that has been suspended this season. In all, play has been stopped at some point more than 50 times, with delays for rain, fog, lightning, thunderstorms, snow, hail, sleet, frost, darkness and high winds. All three FedEx Cup events have seen some stoppage of play.
The BMW has had particularly hard luck – this is the sixth time in nine years that the event has been suspended by weather.
The 30 players who are moving on to the Tour Championship, which begins Thursday outside Atlanta, will have only two days to get ready for the season finale.
“The nice thing is that Atlanta, we’ve all seen it,” Zach Johnson said. “It’s really good. It’s really difficult. It hasn’t changed. There’s a slight altering of the schedule, but you have to just roll with it. There’s not a winner in all of this.”
